All about Aspera Faspex V5
1. New Architecture
Faspex 5 uses new architecture and runs several containers and is fully containerized.
2. New Interface
The Faspex 5 web interface makes use of the REST API, which is fully supported by Faspex 5. The same API that is used by the Faspex 5 web interface will be used by developers working on external integration that need to access server resources.
3. Navigation and display
The web user interface for Faspex 5 was fully redesigned using the IBM Carbon Design framework, and dark mode is supported. The single-page reactive application of the Faspex 5 web interface enables streamlined, novel user experiences.
4. Shared inboxes (formerly dropboxes)
Shared inboxes are the new name for Dropbox. Instead of choosing a shared inbox from a drop-down menu, just add the shared inbox as a package recipient when sending a package to shared inboxes.
5. Authentication and Authorization
OAuth 2 is used by Faspex 5 as the APIs’ authorization method. The Faspex V4 API did not dissociate user authentication from authorization, while the Faspex V3 API employed less secure HTTP basic authorization.
6. Front-end web server
Nginx has replaced Apache HTTP as the front-end web server in Faspex 5.
7. FASPEX 5 UTILITY
Add or update user accounts, migrate the database to new versions, and back up and restore the database using Faspex Utility.
Faspex 5 is entirely REST API driven. All web interface features use the API, making automation and workflow integration simpler than before.
