IBM Aspera On Demand is a cloud-based service or SaaS delivery model for fast deployment, limited upfront costs, and reduced impact on business/media resources. Where it unlocks the cloud’s unlimited computing and storage resources for big data applications by delivering high-speed transfers in, out, and across the cloud.
Aspera client and server product bundles with a usage-based license model are offered as part of the Aspera On Demand (AOD) solutions. AOD supports Google Cloud Platform, IBM Cloud, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft Azure.
Aspera On Demand specifically provides a way for users to access Aspera’s high-speed data transfer capabilities in a pay-as-you-go model through the cloud. This service allows users to upload, download, and share large files and data sets with speed and efficiency, leveraging Aspera’s patented FASP (Fast and Secure Protocol) technology. FASP is known for its ability to transfer data at high speeds, even over long distances and networks with high latency.
The APOD/SOD are the cloud-hosted applications that allow users to manage, monitor, and control Aspera servers and transfers. The licensing will be with IBM Aspera Enterprise Server and IBM Console and others without IBM Console.
Trapd is a service that is included with IBM Aspera On Demand applications. When HSTS Server is installed on a virtual machine in the cloud or other object storage, Trapd is the Aspera service that enables it to write to the object storage (including Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS)).
